In the eye of the hurricane Everything is alright Look for somewhere to hide the pain and maybe you can sleep tonight Up and down like mercury You’re hot and cold and crazy You need a centre of gravity Someone to tell you maybe You can take a vow of silence Go fast for forty days Chase down desire like Brando in the rain CHORUS WHERE DO YOU GO? WHEN YOUR GARDEN DON’T GROW NOBODY KNOWS WHERE DO GO ? You never learned how to stand up for yourself Anything can take you down Another son of a bitch with a book to sell Get your feet on shakey ground Snake oils, crystals New age, cool aid Buy in, show them Your money, honey And take your vow of silence Go fast for forty days Raise your vibrations and change your name CHORUS BRIDGE in your eyes I see there’s somewhere you wanted to be In your eyes I see theres someone kinda like me In your eyes I see Your love is enough Your love is enough Don’t fall for this stuff Don’t worry because Your love is enough CHORUS

I wanna get on a train in a global pandemic I wanna go so far away I can’t get back I wanna tell her I miss her without sounding pathetic I wanna know she’s been waiting to hear me say that I’m like a broken melody I need some harmony What’s a verse without a chorus line CHORUS I wanna play I wanna celebrate I wanna sing along with everybody I’m not alright I’m here alone tonight I’m on the line If I can’t be in love I wanna play I’m gonna finish Netflix in a global pandemic I’m gonna write her a million stupid love songs I’m gonna look for signs and get all prophetic Tell myself she’s coming back and it won’t be long I’m thinking bout a divorcee who’s half Chinese and loved me for a little while CHORUS I’m gonna tell myself You gotta go through hell While I’m keeping score on my vision board I’m gonna eat, pray, love To the lord above Until she comes around CHORUS.

Enemy 03:01
I know what it’s like to be the enemy I will never be set free of what it’s like to be me Sad child on an empty stomach Headed out in the early morning For 20 years you saw this coming Open up your eyes Are you sure that you’re alright? I know what it’s like to be your enemy I hope you never come to see what it’s like to be me Sad child you just keep on running Maybe you’ve been a man too long and For 20 years you saw this coming Open up your eyes Are you sure that you’re alright? Are you sure that you’re alright? Sad child with your heavy eyelids Looking out at the lonesome highway 20 years you’ve seen this coming Open up your eyes Are you sure that you’re alright? Are you sure that you’re alright? I know what it’s like to be with the enemy I will never be set free of what it’s like to be me I know what it’s like to be the enemy I hope you never come to see what it’s like to be me

Don’t you worry My friend’s seen the future He says ‘it all works out’ And these morning commuters On their handheld computers I’m not sure what they’re on about They’re worried sick I’m running blind From the master minds of modern crimes Listening in on conversations Sometimes they’re not saying good stuff CHORUS LONELY IN THE CITY WAITING FOR A CALL ALL THE GALS ARE SO PRETTY THEY DON’T SEE ME AT ALL I listen to dylan and I read Kerouac Trying to make something happen or bring something back But if there’s a coast to reach and a woman to see I’ll give up everything and throw myself at her feet CHORUS LONELY IN THE CITY WAITING FOR A CALL ALL THE GALS ARE SO PRETTY THEY DON’T SEE ME AT ALL LIKE A QUEEN STREET CAR SLOWLY MOVING ON FROM AFFAIRS OF THE HEART AND CYNICAL SONGS LONELY IN THE CITY the revelation’s coming anytime now The revelation’s coming anytime now Blue eyes you’ve seen regret Missteps and now all this Mending a broken fence As your last defence I learn from myths, idioms and cliches For no reason Don’t worry it’ll all work out Don’t worry it’ll all work out Don’t worry it’ll all work out CHORUS LONELY IN THE CITY WAITING FOR A CALL ALL THE GALS ARE SO PRETTY THEY DON’T SEE ME AT ALL LIKE A QUEEN STREET CAR SLOWLY MOVING ON FROM AFFAIRS OF THE HEART AND CYNICAL SONGS LONELY IN THE CITY

Hidden Gem 04:52
It’s ok talking to yourself It’s when you start answering that you should be weary History never repeats itself You hope in spite of evidence to the contrary Misleading voices in my head The doctor tells me that I might need medication To cure the irrational dread Hardened to the consternation I get so far gone, I can’t remember what’s wrong I go so far out, trying to make my way home I’m the same hard one, underneath the sun It’s a shame my heart tells me when I’m done Shame my heart tells me when I’m done CHORUS I FLY TO THE WORLD’S END TO FIND A HIDDEN GEM I’LL RIDE THE HOWLING WIND TO FIND A HIDDEN GEM Magical, manic pixie girl A Shangri- la in the cold world Beauty launches a thousand myths Sailors go mad and sink their ships They get so far gone they can’t remember what’s wrong They go so far out trying to make their way home They’re the same hard ones underneath the sun It’s a shame their hearts tell em when their done Shame my heart tells me when I’m done CHORUS I FLY TO THE WORLD’S END TO FIND A HIDDEN GEM I’LL RIDE THE HOWLING WIND TO FIND A HIDDEN GEM CHORUS I FLY TO THE WORLD’S END TO FIND A HIDDEN GEM I’LL RIDE THE HOWLING WIND HIGH ABOVE THE OCEAN TO FIND A HIDDEN

I get a feeling, grab my camera, it’s an instamatic I search the dial looking for a signal through the static Show me a sign, drop me a line Let me know if I’m wasting my time Alright Imagination’s running places that it shouldn’t be going Trusting my heart will still be strong enough to see me through it Open the door, tell me the score I had faith but I don’t know anymore CHORUS SHOOT ME INTO THE SUN I WILL NOT BITE MY TONGUE WILL LEAVE NO SONG UNSUNG I DON’T CARE WHO’S LISTENING I DON’T NEED YOUR PERMISSION PERMISSION Follow the leader and I’m trying not to judge the process Well aware of the perils of overconfidence Am I alright? Here tonight All I want to do is shine a little light CHORUS SHOOT ME INTO THE SUN I WILL NOT BITE MY TONGUE WILL LEAVE NO SONG UNSUNG I DON’T CARE WHO’S LISTENING I DON’T NEED YOUR PERMISSION PERMISSION So over falling under Your wicked little spell The devil on my shoulder Can’t save me from your hell I’ll suffer for my silence Don’t sell your fear to me Regret’s a waste of time In time the truth will set you free CHORUS SHOOT ME INTO THE SUN I WILL NOT BITE MY TONGUE WILL LEAVE NO SONG UNSUNG I DON’T CARE WHO’S LISTENING I DON’T NEED YOUR PERMISSION PERMISSION I WILL NOT BE OKAY PISSING MY LIFE AWAY WITH SO MUCH LEFT TO SAY I DON’T CARE WHO’S LISTENING I DON’T CARE WHO’S LISTENING I DON’T CARE WHO’S LISTENING I DON’T NEED YOUR PERMISSION

The Wanderer 03:42
Pluck a melody from my memory Steal a thought from my head Solitary time is no good for me No man’s an island Some say life is illusory Pleasure and pain are one Honestly there’s nothing new to me Underneath the sun I’m a wanderer, wanderer, I want her, I don’t need her CHORUS I GOT TO GET AWAY I GOTTA FEEL ALIVE I GOT A LITTLE HONEY I KEEP HER ON THE SIDE GO GET WHAT YOU WANT GIRL DONT APOLOGIZE GO GET A LITTLE HONEY I’M A WANDERER I was born an eagle and raised a fowl Cut down in my prime I had to teach myself why, where and how Just to walk the finer lines Come and ride this precarious highway In the side car of my bike If you want to do things my way You can do whatever you like Be a wanderer, I’m a wanderer, I want her and I don’t need her CHORUS I GOT TO GET AWAY I GOTTA FEEL ALIVE I GOT A LITTLE HONEY I KEEP HER ON THE SIDE GO GET WHAT YOU WANT GIRL DONT APOLOGIZE GO GET A LITTLE HONEY I’M A WANDERER I got a little honey I keep her on the side

Call it overreaction I’m tryin’ to get a little traction Call it overexposure You keep drawing me closer ’Til I I am lost in a way That you And you alone can find me Is there a word for all the things I’m feeling? Burning up from all the heat you’re dealing Over, and over, I’m overwhelmed (but I..) I can’t control myself I said and meant I love the beauty of your movement I wanna live inside your heart every moment Now, and when you know me well I can’t control myself Call it style over substance Looking good from a distance Falling just short of a amazing Are ya digging, or grazing? ‘Cause I’m Growing fond of the way That you Pull the wool over me Is there a word for all the things I’m feeling? Burning up from all the heat you’re dealing Over, and over, I’m overwhelmed (but I..) I can’t control myself I said and meant I love the beauty of your movement I wanna live inside your heart every moment Now, and when you know me well I can’t control myself Let me down I’ll be fine I’m good to go again Anytime Because I can’t control myself No I Can’t control myself Oh I Can’t control myself You Know I Can’t Is there a word for all the things I’m feeling? Burning up from all the heat you’re dealing Over, and over, I’m overwhelmed (but I..) I can’t control myself I said and meant I love the beauty of your movement I wanna live inside your heart every moment Now, and when you know me well I can’t control myself

about

The Trews — singer/guitarist Colin MacDonald, guitarist John-Angus MacDonald, bassist Jack Syperek, drummer Chris Gormley, and keyboardist Jeff Heisholt — have shared stages with everyone from the Rolling Stones to Weezer, Bruce Springsteen to Rich Robinson, the latter collaboration culminating in three blazing tracks on the band’s latest, The Wanderer, cut in Nashville with the onetime Black Crowes guitarist. Amid the global pandemic, which halted both the Nashville sessions and tour plans for 2018’s epic Civilianaires album, The Trews completed The Wanderer at home in Canada with producers Derek Hoffman and Eric Ratz, emerging with their fiercest and most accomplished set of songs to date, and a heck of backstory to boot.
